General Dynamics Facility Receives Cogswell Security Award

RICHARDSON, Tex. - General Dynamics C4 Systems has announced that its
Controls and Structures facility in Richardson, Texas, has received the
Defense Security Service's distinguished James S. Cogswell Industrial
Security Achievement Award.

The Controls and Structures business provides precision antennas,
positioning systems and control systems for satellite communications, radio
telescope, optical telescope, radar, and other specialized applications. The organization was acquired by General Dynamics C4 Systems as part of the purchase of TriPoint Global Communications in Sept. 2004.

The U.S. Government relies on cleared facilities to administer sound
security programs while properly protecting classified assets in their
possession. The Cogswell Award, established in 1966 in honor of the late
U.S. Air Force Colonel James S. Cogswell, is based on outstanding
overall security programs in which the contractor routinely resolves
problems independently and is extremely responsive to the National Industrial
Security Program among other criteria. Less than one tenth of one
percent of the Industrial Security Program's cleared industries is selected
annually to receive this award.

"A compromise of classified information, particularly if it relates to
a system's susceptibility to counterattack, can have disastrous
consequences, including loss of life and reduced war fighter capability," said
Ralph White, vice president of General Dynamics C4 Systems. "This is
truly a great honor for Controls and Structures to be among one of only
eight cleared facilities selected from a pool of more than 12,000
